Genres produced:Gabber, raggacore, breakcore, noise Years active:2005 - 2018 Renard is the former mascot of the Lapfox Trax label and is one of the most recognizable characters. He was Emma's first "proper" alias jumpstarting the trend of using different characters to represent the different genres they produced. Originally, Renard's music could be described as aggressive, erratic, and emotional, with more of a serious and dark tone compared to his later albums such as A PICTURE OF FINN FARTING and FULL TECHNO JACKASS, which focused more on upbeat and humorous themes. The first album of his I fell in love with was Trauma. Despite not being the most recognizable album I consider it to be his best work. All of the songs on that album blend nicely into eachother, nothing seems out of place. It's full of heavy kicks, distorted samples, and aggressive breaks, yet contains upbeat and catchy melodies. It's probably my personal pick as an introduction to the alias. Did you know that Renard's design and aesthetic is a reference to the Silent Hill franchaise? His design is based off the Bubble Head Nurses from SH2, and a lot of his songs are direct references to the series, such as Pyramid Head is The Worlds Greatest Lover which samples "Theme of Laura", and Our Special Place by The Queenstons which title is a reference to a quote from the game. (I also believe Scissorman and the Intestive Care Unit EP are references too, but I might be wrong...) |
